Church Rock

Above, the spires of Church Rock can be seen from Interstate 40 near Gallup, New Mexico. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

One of the more interesting rock formations in the Gallup, New Mexico area is Church Rock (also known as Navajo Church).

The above photo is a blow-up of a photo I took of the area of Interstate 40 near Fort Wingate today.

When Jess and I were being driven to look at the house in Jamestown, the realtor pointed out Church Rock.

It is located at Red Rock Park. There is a 3-mile hiking trail that will take visitors near Church Rock formation. There is a campground at Red Rock Park that has water and electrical hook-ups.

There is also a community of Church Rock that is home to the Red Rock Navajo Casino.

For more information on Red Rock Park, go here.
