U.S. Senate and Sushi In Gallup

Tonight, I had a couple of firsts since moving to New Mexico.

The first first was attending a political "townhall" meeting by the Mick Rich for U.S. Senate campaign in Gallup. Rich is running against an establishment liberal Democrat incumbent, Martin Heinrich. It was held downtown at one of the city's libraries.

From what I've seen and heard of Martin Heinrich, he's either too disinterested in tending to the interests of New Mexico (he's been called "California's third U.S. Senator") or too radical to be of any good to the state. I suppose you can take your pick on which.

Rich spoke well and answered questions from the audience without any hesitation and without notes. He is a solid conservative who is also a business owner. He takes pride in being a "hardhat". He understands the concerns of the average worker.

The second first for tonight was going out for dinner. Prior to tonight, it was too cold outside to attempt going out to dinner.

After the Mick Rich townhall meeting, I headed off to Zen Steak & Sushi restaurant for dinner. It is the only sushi restaurant in Gallup (they said Albuquerque has around 20). Thank God it is a good one!

I tried out their tuna, salmon and yellowtail/scallop cut rolls. Price-wise, they are roughly the same as Tarzana's Crazy Tokyo Sushi.

I read previously that they are a good sushi restaurant. They didn't disappoint!
